Alonso Ramirez-Manzanares

biography

My work is focused on low-level vision and image processing. During my Masters and PhD studies I worked on the development of 'multi-model' regularization models. These models are capable of estimating and regularizing more than a single model per pixel/voxel. One challenging application of these models is the detection of axon fiber crossings and bifurcations in the brain on Diffusion Weighted (DW) MR data. Thus, I started working on medical image processing, which has been an exciting experience. My research interests are: a) DW-MR image processing in order to infer local and global axon connectivity patterns and b) Developing applications for solving general 'multi-model' regularization problems (such as transparent optical flow computation or multi-tensor filtering in grey scale images).
